UPDATE 16th MARCH 2021
We have now started calling people for second Covid vaccinations. We will receive these supplies in the same quantities and order as for the first dose clinics, so patients will get invited to attend according to when they had their first dose. If extra supplies should become available we will only move people forward due to clinical need and/or age.
While we appreciate that members of the same household would prefer to attend the same clinic, this is not always possible as we are required to vaccinate in set orders, so please be patient.
Please note that the Covid booking is coordinated by a dedicated team of staff working from home, so the receptionists at the surgery may not always be able to answer your queries regarding your vaccination.
23rd FEBRAURY 2021 SECOND COVID DOSES
We are now starting to organise clinics for second covid vaccinations. We will send text messages and/or letters to patients advising them when they can attend. PLEASE WAIT TO BE CALLED BEFORE ATTENDING as you will not receive a vaccine unless we have asked you to attend.
When you receive the details of your clinic, there is no need to contact us to confirm your attendance. Please just arrive at Ombersley Medical Centre on the specified date. Anyone not attending will automatically be contacted again for the next clinic but we do urge you to make every effort to attend as soon as possible.
PLEASE DO NOT CONTACT RECEPTION about dates for second vaccinations. The clinics are being organised by staff working from home and you will be contacted when your second dose is available.
Please note: we continue to call patients for first vaccination and the availability of these will not be affected by the clinics for second doses.
11th February 2021 COVID VACCINATION CLINICS UPDATE
We continue to hold vaccination clinics at Ombersley Medical Centre for the first dose of Covid vaccinations and are inviting people based on age and clinical need.
We are using a text service which allows patients to book directly into the clinic at a time that suits them. You will be asked to confirm your date of birth when booking but no other information is required. The link will take you to the booking site and will show the clinic location as Ombersley Medical Centre. There will also be information about the second vaccine and how to cancel the appointment should you need to.
Patients who do not have a mobile number entered on their medical record will not be missed out, but will receive a call at home from a member of the Knightwick Surgery staff.
We are unable to arrange second vaccinations at the moment but hope to start rolling these out during March, once delivery dates of vaccines has been confirmed.
CANCELLATION OF SECOND DOSE CLINIC 23rd JANUARY 2021
If you, or anyone you know received their first Covid jab on 2nd January, please be aware that the appointments for the follow-up dose on 23rd Jan have been cancelled.
Please do not turn up at Ombersley Surgery on the 23rd as we are unable to give second doses at this time and you will have a wasted journey.
We will contact everyone to rearrange appointments in due course.
We apologise for any inconvenience caused by this Department of Health directive.
11th January 2021 COVID VACCINATION CLINICS UPDATE
On Saturday 9th January we were able to vaccinate patients using the Oxford AstraZeneca vaccine for the first time. Moving forward, we hope to receive a mixture of both vaccines and will continue to roll them out to patients as quickly as we can. Please remember we are not able to accommodate requests for a specific vaccine unless there is a clinical reason why a particular one would not be suitable for you.
We have so far invited patients in Groups 1-4, which includes those over 70, shielded patients and healthcare workers. To date just over 1100 of our patients have received the vaccine and there has been a decline rate of just 2.7%. Well done to all our patients for such a fantastic response!
This week we hope to start vaccinating our housebound patients and those remaining from groups 1-4, before moving on to invite patients in Group 5 - those aged 65-69 years inclusive.
2nd JANUARY 2021 COVID VACCINATION CLINICS UPDATE
We have now booked in just over 600 patients to receive their first covid-19 vaccine dose at our clinics being held today, Tuesday 5th and Thursday 7th January. Thank you to everyone who is attending. Further clinics will be arranged as soon as we know when we will receive further vaccines.
PLEASE NOTE Our reception staff are unable to book Covid vaccinations and the appointments are being organised by a dedicated team of staff working from home. You will be contacted individually and asked to respond to a text message via a link. If you are unable to respond via the link in the text message, you can leave a message with reception who will pass it on to the Covid Vaccination Booking team, but we would ask you to reply in this way only when absolutely necessary, as our reception staff are busy helping patients deal with routine appointments and queries.
If we do not have a mobile phone for you, we will contact you by landline telephone or letter.
If you are unable to attend the appointment offered, you will remain on our list and be re-invited at a later date. We are not able to accommodate requests for a specific vaccine unless there is a clinical reason why a particular one would not be suitable for you.
Appointments are being offered according to the risk category each patient has been assigned to, based on age and medical history. We cannot book an appointment for you until we take delivery of vaccines allocated your risk group.
We would just like to thank everyone for your patience and support while we roll out this important vaccine programme.
29th DECEMBER 2020 UPDATE ON COVID-19 VACCINATIONS
We are continuing to arrange clinics for covid-19 vaccinations. Currently, these are using the Pfizer BionTech vaccine and the clinics are being held at Ombersely Surgery.
There are processes in place to ensure the most vulnerable patients are vaccinated first - these include patients in higher age groups, shielding patients, healthcare workers and care home employees.
We are contacting each group directly by telephone to book into clinics as vaccines become available. THERE IS NO NEED TO CONTACT THE SURGERY as appointments can only be booked for the specified groups at the specified times. For this reason, it is not possible to book covid-19 vaccination appointments online.
We are unable to give a timetable for the vaccination clinics as we receive very short notice of when vaccines will be delivered.
We will contact everyone as soon as we can.
8th DECEMBER 2020 COVID-19 VACCINATIONS FOR PATIENTS AGED 80 AND OVER
We are now able to offer appointments for our patients aged 80 years and over who wish to have a Covi-19 vaccination.
Due to the delivery and storage requirements of the vaccine, the first appointments will take place at Ombersley Surgery on Tuesday 15th and Thursday 17th December between 2pm - 6.30pm.
All eligible patients will receive an invitation either by letter or text message by the end of this week. You can book appointments online via your usual online log in, or call the surgery to book.
Please do not book appointments for anyone aged under 80 as we are required to vaccinate patients in strict age order. Patients without an invitation who book in to the clinic, will not be vaccinated.
You can read further information about the vaccine and possible side effects by following the link on our home page.

We will contact everyone who is affected by this announcement as soon as we know when the vaccines will arrive. We have not been able to order them yet and do not know when we will receive them, although this should hopefully be some time in December.
